About Us

The Vermont Community Newspaper Group (VTCNG) is a media company based in the picturesque and bustling town of Stowe in the mountains of central Vermont. In addition to being a busy year-round community, Stowe and the surrounding area is a growing business hub, providing a home base to successful companies. Stowe combines world-class amenities with small-town charm, and is home to four-season resorts including the Stowe Mountain Resort and the Trapp Family Lodge.

The Vermont Community Newspaper Group currently publishes five weekly newspapers, three magazines and corresponding websites (at VTCNG.com). The company is run by dynamic employees who care about the communities and markets they serve: Stowe, Morrisville (and all of Lamoille and eastern Washington counties), Charlotte/Hinesburg, South Burlington and Shelburne.

Stowe Reporter/StoweToday.com

The world-class resort town of Stowe is visited by nearly one million visitors per year and the award-winning Stowe Reporter is here to help you reach them. An independent weekly newspaper published 52 times a year, the Stowe Reporter serves the town of Stowe, with circulation in Waterbury, Morrisville, Hyde Park and throughout Lamoille County. The Stowe Reporter reaches residents and visitors alike and is the only timely publication for the Stowe tourist market. The Stowe Reporter has an average weekly circulation of 4,500, a combination of paid subscriptions and newsstand sales. Pass-along readership is between 10,000 to 15,000 individuals.

Stowe Today is a window into the heart of Stowe, focusing on events, arts and music in the Stowe area and featuring fun and interesting stories about the people who live there — the online hub for what’s hip and happening. StoweToday.com is designed to connect visitors to the site with businesses and services in town; when people come to the site to find out what’s going on in Stowe — what bands are playing next weekend or what the latest ski conditions are — they also will be able to select a restaurant to have dinner in or find a Realtor to hire if they decide to make Stowe their home.

News & Citizen

Since 1881, the News & Citizen has faithfully served the communities of Lamoille County. With circulation of 13,500 households, the News & Citizen is the only sure-fire way to reach all of Lamoille County, except Stowe, plus Hardwick, Craftsbury and Greensboro. The weekly newspaper serves the town and villages of Cambridge, Jeffersonville, Belvidere, Waterville, Johnson, Eden, Hyde Park, Greensboro, Craftsbury, Hardwick, Wolcott, Elmore and Morristown.

The Citizen

Established in 2006 as Charlotte Citizen, the name was changed in May 2011 to reflect expanded coverage of neighboring Hinesburg. The weekly newspaper is mailed free to every home and business in Charlotte, Vermont’s second most affluent community, and Hinesburg. It offers additional rack distribution at select high-traffic locations in Charlotte, Hinesburg and Shelburne for a combined circulation of 4,500 copies weekly. The Citizen harmonizes neighboring hometown happenings into one convenient publication. The Citizen delivers the latest news directly from municipal meetings; police, fire and rescue; parks and recreation; Charlotte and Carpenter-Carse libraries; and local schools.

Shelburne News

First published in 1967, the Shelburne News is a community staple. Mailed free-of-charge to every Shelburne residence and business, and rack distributed at select high-traffic locations in Shelburne, Charlotte and Hinesburg, the Shelburne News offers a weekly circulation of 5,000 copies. It covers Vermont’s third most affluent community more thoroughly – both in terms of reporting and circulation – than any other medium. The Shelburne News delivers the latest news directly from municipal meetings; police, fire and rescue; parks and recreation; Pierson Library; and local schools. Among other features, each issue spotlights one of the town's many “Notable Neighbors” in a column of the same name. It also features academic and athletic achievements of local students.

The Other Paper

Mailed to every residence and business in South Burlington, The Other Paper serves Vermont’s second largest city. Published since 1977, it is the trusted go-to source for local news, connecting readers every week with what matters, including municipal, legislative, school and community news. With a steadily growing circulation, currently at 11,000, The Other Paper is the newspaper of record, fostering a strong sense of community and providing a direct link to a wealthy clientele. The Other Paper is published in its entirety online, and is also available through rack distribution in key locations throughout South Burlington and the surrounding area.

Stowe Guide & Magazine

The one indispensable guide and comprehensive information source to reach locals as well as tens of thousands of travelers to Stowe and Smugglers' Notch, central Vermont, and the Burlington area! Stowe Guide and Magazine is chock full of stories about the Vermont lifestyle, events and attractions, places to stay and eat, shopping, art galleries, and outdoor sports and activities in the greater Stowe area and beyond. Plus, it caters to the high-end real estate market and is a great way for designers, architects, builders, home-product purveyors and others to tap into the region. The magazine is distributed free at welcome centers along Vermont's interstate system, at Canadian border crossings in addition to locations throughout the Stowe-Smugglers' region, Central Vermont and Chittenden County.

Green Mountain Weddings/Stowe Weddings

The magazine is mailed to select subscribers of the Stowe Reporter weekly newspaper, and has limited distribution at select Vermont welcome centers as well as direct distribution at bridal shops and suppliers, inns and resorts, clothing and jewelry shops, reception sites, local chambers of commerce, florists, bakeries and more. Annual circulation of 8,500.
